DSL or Cable.
DSL is over your phone line. It has more consistent speeds, but they are slower than Cable. You also need to be near a CO to get the fastest DSL speeds.
Cable is obviously over your TV cable connection. If you get this and have a cell-phone, I recommend cancelling your phone land-line and save some money. Cable is faster than DSL but not as consistent speed-wise.
AOL is a joke -- it's overpriced, and geared toward people who know zilch about computers. It bogs down your machine, and is also very difficult to remove from your system once it's installed.

I will tell you now, I had AOL it sucks it runs slow and it just too complicated, cable is wonderful I have it now, I'm not gonna lie to you there's been problems with (I guess because I'm on a router) speed is awesome. I don't know about DSL..... hope this helped you a lil.

DSL is faster... Cable you are networked in to a large hub with at peak times slows your speed to. DSL all the way..
