From where i come from we speak creole (kreol). Im from the islands of Seychelles and 'yaman' or 'ya man' basically means; in greeting: how are you? or what's up?
as a sign of acknowledgement: sure, ok or yes or no probs
it's not that hard.

its a persons name yaman unless you mispelt it yemen is a country but if just informal language its yo man pronounced yaman

Do you mean 'the word'? If so, I asked my husband this question last week, as he has been a disc jockey for centuries, I thought he might know but he didn't have a clue either.
Whatever it is, I find it an irritating word. I hope someone can answer your question and then I may not find it so annoying when I hear Michael Jackson using it.
