I have put an AVI file onto a dvd disk and am wondering if it will play on my dvd player. My player will play mp3s and normal dvds of course but I want to know if I have to do anything to an AVI file to make it playable, just the same as the other files. Thanking you all in advance, Ant

avi wont play on most DVD players, i would reccomend getting a converter that converts between avi and DVD (VOB, BUP and IFO) files.
I found it quite hard to get a free one, but there is a list at VideoHelp.com that has a lot of options, i would reccomend that:

http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=&s=&orderby=Name&hits=50&convert=AVI+to+DVD&dvdauthorfeatures=&Submit=Search+or+List+tools

Just do that, and make sure the converted files are VOB files. It is then a simple task of burning to DVD

If you mean your set-top DVD player connected to your TV, not it probably won't play. Check your DVD player's docs for a list of supported file formats.

To make a set-top compatible DVD you'll need to use a DVD authoring program such as Roxio Easy Media Creator.
