The Uni-Ball Vision is over 10 years old now. There have been many new gel and rollerball pens on the market since then, but no breakthrough in pen technology for decades since rollerballs were first introduced. Is there anything that is in the works?

A battery powered stylus that burns the line into the paper. Very hard to erase.

Fountain pens are still used for formal invitations. I'm really surprised that the President signs bills with ball point pens.

My imagination tells me it will be light reactive paper. Using a laser-like pen, the paper will change color depending on the frequency of the light, the duration of time in one area. The paper will be used in a new tonerless, light only printer system for everything from desktop printers to production size copier/printer machines. This will be touted as a wondrous breakthrough, no more toner spills, no environmental problems of disposing empty toner cartridges. However, within 4 years the paper will be shown to cause cancer and sterility causing the whole system to be scrapped over night. This will create a run on old fashioned pens. Start hoarding now!

It matters if people still thing that pen is useful, if they do, then they will buy those, and it will go on into the future, if they don't then it might go out of business.
