If you hate to open start menu then there already exist shortcut keys for turning off your computer.
Watch the keyboard closely.
Worst still.....
if you really really hate opening start menu, pull out the power cord!!!

the start menu is where you go to order dinner before you go to bed, so don't turn it off till your food comes or you will go hungry

You don't have to.....but this action shuts down Windows so that you can safely turn off the computer power. Many computers turn the power off automatically.

you can also use ctrl,alt and del at the same time to open a window that asks if you want to shut down, restart, or log off, and the reason you use one of these options is so your system can shut down easily rather than getting a surge.

You don't have to you can buy a keyboard with a power button on it and use that.
