The best two that I've actually experimented with is Avast! Home Edition and AVG Free. Look them both up on Google to get to their websites. They're absolutely free.
I think AVG personally is easier to use although Avast has more features attached to it for a freebie.

AVG has a free virus progam that is pretty good (for a free one) install it and it will scan and remove virus for you.
