I am test driving boxsters and I thought I wanted a manual transmission but I tested the tiptronic just to compare it.

I noticed the automatic was a lot less noisy; is this true in general or just for the one I was driving?

Also, is the engine placed in the same area in the tiptronic, it felt like it was in the front or under drivers seat (not further back like in the manual).

Thank you

sorry i'm not a car expert, i don't know where the engine is exactly, i just know the automatic felt like it was further forward. thanks for answering.
does anyone also know if tiptronics are more problematic (need to be replaced)?
i love the look of porsche & feel but quality/reliability is still my most imp. feature

Manual transmissions make gear noise felt in the shifter at low speeds. Both are nice and if you get caught in traffic a lot you will want the tiptronic motors are exactly in the same place.

dude dont buy the porsche if you think the same car has the motor under the drivers seat ??? just because of the transmission type. get the manaul because when the tiptronic breaks down you better have a bankroll. trust me, ex porsche tech
