the same reason str8s go on x factor....because they want to be madonna or mariah carey, or they think they can sing/dance/perform, because their mother said they could.

personally, i love mincers!

I find this question homophobic.
Not all gay guys mince. Most gay guys wouldn't go on x-factor.
Why do so many talentless str8 people go on X-factor?
Maybe lesbians have no talent unless their name is Ellen.

If the poser of this question is a lesbian and smiles at being labelled homophobic she should be doing everything in her power to dispell all and any myths surrounding gay people. It is because we don't do that that str8 people feel that they can de-humanise, ridicule and persecute us. It is about time gay people grew up and got serious

this isnt an answer, sorry, but i've also often wondered whether gay men are born with gay voices and personalities or just put them on so people know they're gay. i'm not homophobic and i'm not questioning the fact that sexuality is a choice but i fail to understand why some feel they have to make it so blatant by doing typically "gay" things and indeed mincing. do i feel the need to wear a pretty frock and knit because i am a girl? hell no!

I don't know what x-factor is, but just for the record: gay men and lesbians CAN indeed be very heterosexist, and use homophobic and offensive language. I don't really know that this is an example of such a time, but your being a lesbian doesn't really mean much.

dear Lisa, i have nothing to do with individual atiitudes. i don't show myself up neither attempt to call for attention.
you're using a kind of generalizaton which is dangerous, and might as well sometime turn against you. i've met all kinds of lesbians, some who show off and who make ridiculous figures (posh?) while others are the greates persons ive met. but again, your probably are speaking about the ones you know. and again one more time, when you refer to gays who show off, its only of what you can see or interested to see.

People will do anything on TV. I don't get it either, but look at the nut cases you can see with Maury Povich or Jerry Springer. Those people would never tell their preacher or their lawyer the crap the tell the world on TV.

It's a TV thing.

That is too stereotypical. I have gay male friends, in fact i prefer gay male friends, and they don't fit the stereotypes that i keep coming across, and i hate that the media does that because its like they use gay men (and women) like little cir-us acts.

A large majority of gay men have a need to prove themselves to still be masculine by exerting athleticism or bravery.

i've never seen xfactor , but why shouldn't a gay man go do whatever he damn well pleases, and where's the unity in bitching about it? i support the right for girls to be as butch or fem as they want so return the favor after all we're all "family"

Why do you feel the need to generalize?
