Not as effecient as menstrual cups - they can be left in for up to 12 hours, worn at night, worn prior to menstruation, nothing shows externally, no health risks assosiated (unlike tampons that have many, not just TSS), environmentally friendly, convenient, reduce cramping and flow, some can be worn during penetrative penis to vagina sex, no leaking, cheaper, etc.

I like tampons much better then pads. Less of the mess because you don't have to worry about leakage, {as long as you get the tampon up far enough}, and their more comfortable. Less odor, too. But there is a risk of toxic shock sydrome. That's a very rare but deadly disease caused by leaving a tampon in too long. You should never leave a tampon in for over eight hours and you shouldn't sleep with tampons in you. Always choose the correct absorbancy because if your on a light day and you try a super tampon it will cause you pain.
But if you know how to use tampons correctly they are very efficiant and worth it. I recomend tampax because they make tampons especially for teens who are just starting to use tampons. Not only that but they are the most comfortable. Besides you can sometimes see pads through girls pants but you can't see their tampons. That's a definate bonus because not everyone needs to know that your on your period.

Just pick the one that's designed for you depending on how great your flow is. They have junior sizes to super absorbancy plus sizes. The junior has the lightest absorbancy and they are the smallest size. And the super absorbancy tampons are for women who have a lot of bleeding.
If you really don't know what's best for you then buy a small box of the regular tampons and try that.

Way more efficient than a maxi-pad. Pads are nasty.
