Try this;take the red lead(+) off after using then put back on the next day(your battery might not be charging) or with a volt meter read the voltage while it is running and hooked up(should charge at 14.5v ish if 16+v your regulator is bad if less, then either a shorted cell in the battery or the gen is kaput))If it is chargeing and holding a charge. Then take the red lead off and measure the red lead resistance to ground(frame) if you get a reading of less than 200 k ohms restance to gnd then follow where the wire gos to find the short (probably rubbing the frame some where

you ought to make constructive your backyard mower is charging the battery, in the different case merely operating the engine will slowly drain the battery. once you've a meter set it for DC volts use the 20 decision. Then boost the tractor so its operating and then with the booster cables bumped off placed the constructive and negitive terminals from the meter to that of the battery. you may want to work out voltage above 12v typically round 14. If its less than 12 the charging gadget is broken. you may want to ought to regulate the rectifier. inspite of the undeniable fact that like others have reported opportunities are extreme your battary has merely lengthy gone undesirable. in case you checked the charging gadget and its good. merely get a sparkling battery and also you may want to be good.

If the blade is engaged, it will not start on some mowers. Also, the connections to the battery can be loose or the generator not charging. Always remove the key after use to make sure it is not still on. Paulofhouston above had some good answers.

Does it have a electric pto? never gave details.....
Anything that needs to draw power from the battery while running, and the stator (kinda like a alternator) isn't working..... the battery will die in no time.
Make sure the stator is putting out power

paulofhouston's answer is probably more useful, but I can tell you mine used to drain because if I didn't turn the key all the way off, then the headlight continued to draw power. Not to imply you're as clueless as me...

we had the same problem on our john deere f525. it ended up being the "stater" which is part of the recharging system. (which was good, because the stater is supposed to go first, kind of like a fuse, because it didn't cost much to fix...but if it was the recharging system.....)
