Sure, as long as it's in your own house. I'm sure you've seen "nanny-cams" in which parents have hidden security cameras in their home and caught the nanny or babysitter mistreating the child or otherwise misbehaving.

Inside your house, you can pretty much do whatever you want. If you start aiming those cameras into your neighbors' houses, you could have problems there.

As for the answer that sound is not ok, that's just wrong.

If its your home and not a rental you are ok to use wall mounted ones-check with your landlord if you're a renter though if you want to mount one on the wall. It's just protecting your stuff and yourself and it's legal.

Yeah. If they are used outside the home you need a notice displayed saying that CCTV is used for 24-hour monitoring, and who is monitoring it.
