Could never do it with my own car but would like to know.
Can someone tell me what will happen if I switch off the ignition while car is still at some good speed in low gear?

Some unburned fuel will make it past the combustion chamber and explode in your exhaust system when you turn the ignition back on.

The resulting backfire can be quite loud.

This was less harmful before the days of catalytic converters (most of which are somewhat fragile), and some might say "fun."

What do you think would happen? No Kaboom! just the power being turned off to the coil or coils spark gone fuel pump would turn off just like down shifting the car would slow down. However pulling the key out after turning the ignition switch off can be disastrous steering would lock and what ever direction the car was going CRASH.

You will turn off engine by turning key to "off" position. That is what "off" means. All of your electrical systems will cease to function, which will make the car harder to control if your have power assistance like steering and brakes. Having it in a lower gear will not compression start the car if the key is not in the "on" position, it will just make you not coast as far as neutral. You can not compression start an automatic transmission at all.

You can put your car in running mode (be able to listen to music and stuff like that) but not completely on. Turn your key only halfway to the ignition point...there should be a mark on the ignition circle...called ACC I think.

depends on if it's stick or automatic, but not much does it will keep rolling till you run out of momentum, in a stick once you turn the ignition to the on position it should start back up if it's in gear, with the auto you have to put it in neutral to start it back up an make the contact.

The engine will stop but you'll still be rolling along until you press the brakes. If you're going to try this DONT put the car in park when the car is still in motion. Wait until the car stops then you can put it to park.

in case you "take the foremost out of the ignition", the engine in the motor vehicle will stop, so as that may not artwork. the only way this would artwork is that in case you left the foremost in the ignition, then locked the door & had a duplicate key to assist you to re-enter the motor vehicle. protecting the engine working jointly as you at the instant are not there's a brilliant thank you to ask motor vehicle thieves to break the motor vehicle window & thieve your motor vehicle. it relatively is as much as you. i comprehend that folk in all probability would desire to try this alot the place there is snow or the place it relatively is particularly chilly. I purely like being on the secure component.
