There are two girls who think they are friends with my real friends and I and they think they're coming to prom with us. However, these girls do so many mean things to us and are currently in a fight with one of my friends, so we obviously don't want them in our prom limo & after party. We want to tell them, but the thing is we've been nice to them for two years and it would seem weird to all of a sudden confess that we hate them. What's the best way to cut ties with these two girls?

Good ideas... im going to keep this up for a little while longer to see what other people have to say. But by the way, I'm going in a limo with four friends of mine and we know we definitely wanna be together, just without those additional two. We don't know who our dates are going to be yet, and we assume that whether we have dates or go stag, we'll stick together for at least part of prom.

hello. You sound like you must be in the teenage age bracket. I am 47 myself which means simply that I been around that block so to speak. LOL. First of all, to me honesty is the best policy. Just explain to them that they are not the same people as when you first met them and you really dont feel comfortable with their friendship anymore. Tell them that you feel their is too much friction with the fighting and you feel it is time to end the friendship and move on.

That's a tough situation because to spring it on people is sort of sudden even if they are mean people. This comes back to why it's always good to nip things in the bud or tell people when something bothers you.
If you don't tell them, they'll continue to engage in rude behavior and not think anything of it. To give the impression that everything is okay is being untrue to yourself. That's how you get into sticky situations like this.
The simple answer would be to tell them that you and your friend do not like their company. If it's your senior year, you won't have to deal with them after you graduate. If you will be together for a couple more high school years, that could be uncomfortable.
If you want to take a sly approach where you won't be held directly accountable, you and your friend could have a discussion with both your parents. Both your parents could be used as a front to say that they're paying for the limo and just want it to be the two of you and your dates.
Then those two people you dislike will shift their blame onto your parents instead of you and your friend.
The only thing you'd have to be careful of is your parents agree to do that and if the two people you're trying to boycott complain to their parents about some form of discrimination and a fight ensues between your parents and the parents of the two girls you're trying to sever ties with.
Bear in mind though, that this is making it more complex than it already is. However, if you don't want a direct confrontation, you could just say it's a money issue. Unfortunately, they could call your bluff and offer to pay for part of the Limo Ride, which would blow your cover.
A Curfew and Limit enforced by your parents would be your best bet. Parents are always restricting their children when it comes to partying. You could use that. That's assuming those two individuals don't know your parents very well or how they think.
You could talk to your prom dates about it where the four of you come up with some plan indicating how you just want it to be the four of you. However, you have to be careful because the more people you involve in your plan, the less of a secret it becomes.
Once again, we come back to High School Politics, which requires Diplomacy and Tact considering that the people you burn bridges with are the ones you have to see in school or in class with no way of avoiding them.
Amusingly enough, Parents don't really understand this. High School Politics is really like World Politics where there are no simple answers. Anything you do will have an effect because the World is like one huge High School. You have to go to school the next day and deal with those people.
World Politicians are the same way where they have to go to school. You can't avoid those other World Politicians representing other countries because what you say and do could have a disastrous effect or even cause a World War.
World Politics is really just high school all over again except the high school students bullies have bigger weapons and toys to play with.
But I digress...
You could always tagteam and use the line of "It's not you, it's me." One of you could pretend to be going through a post-depression funk becoming reclusive and where the depressed one only wants to spend time with the best friend sheltering themselves from the rest of the world.
Then at school, you can put on the act of how you need time alone to yourself (which excludes the company of those two girls) except for the company of your best friend. That require some really good acting and making sure you don't get diagnosed with manic depression and in need of therapy.
Once again, we come back to Politics and the tightrope you have to walk when you don't want to directly confront people. The diplomatic solutions tend to come at a cost somewhere along the line.

It sounds like this has been going on for a long time. It's time for these girls to get a wake up call from you. Tell them firmly that you're tired of fighting with them and that they can't go to prom with you. You don't want you're prom ruined by their stupidity. Cut them off now or it will get worse.

tell them straight up, just say your not being fair with them if you carry on ,trying, to be friends with them if you dont feel like they are. if you say they are mean theres your answer straight away. as for the limo i,d say someone else is paying for it and they are not invited.

Just be straight and tell them what they have done wrong to hurt you and the other girls. Tell them you feel they are not true friends and that you don't want them around you anymore.

IMO, you need to do some self-esteem studies and get your priorities straightened out!
If the two girls are 'mean' - cut 'em loose! Don't play 'nice' any more with mean folks.
