I think it is a great benefit between your child and yourself. It is a great time to bond for you both: you both get exercise, and if one of you does not understand a new pose, the both of you can work it out. Yoga does not have to be "religious" to be beneficial as this depends on how you perform it.
Go for it!

I probably wouldn't recommend it for a baby but it could be good for you. It's good exercise and it's supposed to be calming. (Very necessary for a new mum!) I have not personally tried yoga but if you think it's good, go for it. Ignore what anyone says about it being bad and all the religious crap. Yoga is nothing to do with any religion and it's a form of relaxation. If some Bible Basher thinks that's a bad thing, that's their problem. You go for it. Only for youself though. I don;t think it's suitable really for babies. Well, unless it's just that it's stuff you can do while you've got the baby. I still do stuff like that with both my kids. Like balancing them on my back and stuff. You wouldn't believe how relaxing it is to have a 6 year old lie on your back!
And to the people talking about taking classes. Do you even have children? Because I never found time to take a class in anything when my children were newborn. (Or now for that matter!)

Children's yoga is a
natural and healthy way to
exercise, relax, focus, and strengthen
their mind/body/spirit connection. Yoga
games, breath meditations, and deep
relaxations are wonderful self-help therapies for hyperactivity, and have helped with ADD/ADHD, Autism, and children's health and well-being.Children reap many benefits from practicing Yoga including:
-flexiblity
-coordinating
-focus
-balance
Yoga's benefits extend far beyond the physical. Yoga fosters postive thinking and motivates children to learn new things.
Gaining mental skills through Yoga helps children learn more easily both in school and outside of school.

I don't think people should learn anything from DVDs, especially not yoga! You should try and find a class instead. At least then you will get feedback. How else will you know if you're doing it right and not damaging your, or your child's, spine? Don't bother with them. That's my view!

I would recommend a class first unless you are experienced. But if you are experienced yoga is wonderful to do with your little one, it is a great way to relax and bond at the same time. I do it with my son and he loves it.

This wasn't around when my child was young otherwise I definately would have tried it. Go for it as it can't do any harm, and they say nothing ventured nothing gained.

Please don't do it. I don't know what your religion is but Please don't get those for your children. Yoga is not good. It is meditating on things other then God. Children who do yoga open their innocent little minds to whatever wants to come inside. Not good things, bad things. Yoga is just a form of ancient worship like Buddhism. Please don't. Good luck and God Bless.
