We had a leak in our finished basementand there is mold on some of our flooring and furniture? We're getting the leak fixed but what products will kill the mold?

The best way for removing mold from a basement is to use a mild detergent with water and scrub all the walls, floors and ceiling if possible of the room that has mold and then follow behind that with a bleech wash.
Even though you may have only noticed mold on 1 wall, scrub all the surfaces that you can in that room.

Any carpet and upholsterd furniture will have to be thrown out. It's just not safe to keep around. Even if you get the mold off of the surface it still stays trapped inside and can multiply with minimal moisture and return. You should buy/rent/borrow a dehumidifier and run it down there too. On hot sunny days opening the windows will help too to remove any remaining moisture. For cleaning the walls and such try Apple Cider Vinegar for a natural cleaner. The acid in that stuff will kill the mold. Bleach will work wonders too, but make sure its well ventilated. Sorry about the leak. I hope all goes well.

I am sorry to hear of your leak, I however disagree with most of the advice you are recieving. While it is true clorine kills both mold and mildew it can also damage the furniture.

My concern is also if there is visable mold chances are there is also some that you can not see, or have not found. Mold needs two things to flourish. Moisture, darkness. Take away either and it will die.

Darkness obviously is a hard thing to take away, so moisture is the key. A dehumidifier is the way to go. Not only will it kill what you can see, but also and more importantly where you can not.

get the air circulating, use a fan.
Bleach on surfaces that can take it. Lysol Spray can help on furniture to keep it from growing, but it wont remove from fabric. those youll have to clean with like a carpet steamer cleaner.

believe it or not, ozone is the best, ionic breeze air cleaner.don't get silly and buy more than 1 unit, cuz 1 will do it. Too much ozone is bad too, so use it like its meant to be used, also get rid of the moisture, use a dehumidifier.
