I probably do have a southern twang, but if I was isolated on an island with no one to talk to I'd still have my twang. I think I'd only lose it if I was with someone else who had a very strong accent of their own. Then I might pick up some of their accent and lose some of my own.

I have a Virginia one, but not as bad as the Carolinas or Tennessee. No, with no one to talk to, why would I loose it and if I could, why would I as it is natural.

My mother would have answered "yes". She swore my west texas drawl got worse around people. I disagree. She sure made me conscious of it though and I no longer have it (I'm told).

We call it a southern draw and no I would not loose it because it is a part of who I am.

It would probably get worse because there is no one there to correct it or make fun of it. And who are you talking to anyway??? lol
