You are blessed with such a fine man. the electric dryer is just like a toaster with a fan, only bigger.
The largest energy drain on a house you can think of, save for an electric furnace.
The gas dryer is the next best thing energywise, next to a clothesline.

start fixing it yourself. A man with ANY salt will step in and save the day. You may actually have to fix it. There isn't much to them. Buy a book from Home Depot. There is just a drum, a belt, a motor and a heater. All can be replaced fairly easily and just think of the amount of pride you will have! Also, the guy at the parts department will feel sorry for yo and give you all the tips you want. good luck. (personally, I think I'd rather have the gas dryer)

Boycott doing his laundry until he does. If you don't have the guts to pull that off, then ask HIM to do the laundry. He will see how much harder it is. Does he do the bill paying? If not, calculate the difference in money saved by switching from gas to electric. Think of something he has really been wanting that you could buy with the difference. THe next time he talks about wanting that particular item, casually mention that if you weren't paying the outrageous gas prices for your dryer, you would be able to buy it for him.

Call a dryer repair man, schedule it, ask the price, tell your husband the price and day he is coming. If he really can fix it, that should speed things up! If he does not fix it by the time the repair man comes, then get the thing fixed already!!

Actually, I like the way gas dryers dry.
Tell your husband to fix it this weekend, or, you will either call a repairman to come out and fix it, or will give it to some appliance shop for free.

The first person is right -- call a handyman and tell him you did. If it doesn't get fixed by the time the handyman arrives, let the handyman make the repair and give your husband the bill.

Stop washing his clothes and when he complains tell him you can't do it until the dryer is fixed.
Or, do what I do--call the repairman yourself.
You can hang your clothes out in the sun, too and save energy!
