My Favorite book would probably be The Bible, but my second favorite is probably The Coal Miners Bride from the Dear America series. The weird thing is if that is my favorite book then why wouldn't i memorize the Author.

Hmm. My favorite author would have to be Mary Higgins Clark. She got be hooked on mysteries and reading all of her books. She also made me an avid reader and become an author myself. My favorite book would be Where Are the Children? by MHC. It started it all, way back in high school English class.

Favorite book: "To Kill a Mockingbird" --everything we need to know about innocence, justice, nobility, character, and living a good life is in that book.
Favorite author: Terry Pratchett. I thought he wrote well back when he started the Discworld books. But his books keep getting sharper, better developed, and more thought provoking with each new title. "Night Watch" stands out among the rest.

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. He's brilliantly witty and insightful. Even better than the movie (with John Cusack), which is really saying something! I hate to be a cliché, but I also love Emma by Jane Austen. It's just great! Romantic and beautiful and well-written.

"THE FOUNTAINHEAD," by Ayn Rand. Anyone who reads and reflects on this book will surely have a totally different outlook on life, politics and politicians, special interest groups, abuse of powers, the rich, poor and middle classes, committees, organizations, cliques, cronyism, teachers, schools, newspapers, demagoguery, human nature, fads, snobs and the presumptuous, the inept, incompetent and malfeasance, cowardice, personal betrayal, etc. The book is a novel, of course, written around 1938 or so, and it focuses on a hardworking man's unfaltering courage and integrity, and his triumph over unimaginable adversity.
I first read this book in 1964 when a kid in high school asked me if I thought he was stupid, and I retorted with, "Don't flatter yourself, buster, I don't think of you at all," and the English teacher overheard me; she asked if I had ever read the book and I replied that I hadn't even heard of it. The next day, she gave me her tattered paperback copy to read and keep!
