I'm a single Mom in a bad situation! It quit a couple weeks ago and my brother put a fuel filter on it thinking it might be fuel related, it did run for a while but was still starting hard. It finally quit again last Monday. With all the computer stuff on it, we aren't sure what to do next without spending a bunch of money! My brother knows basics, but thats about it. It's got a fairly new alternator and battery seems to be strong. It turns over strong but just won't fire.It is a V6, 4.3 liter I believe. We pulled the fuel filter again to make sure it is getting fuel to the engine, and it is. So we don't think it is the fuel pump. I need advice from someone with good mechanical knowledge! Thanks a million!

If you have spark there are some things to check. You may have fuel, but not enough pressure to open the injectors. Also your model sometimes develops internal fuel leaks in the injector supply system. Pull the oil dipstick and check if it is overfull or smells like gas. If it doe's, you have an internal leak. The 4.3 engine is prone to leak fuel internally. get someone to put a pressure gauge on it.

Well im no mechanic but you could try the spark plugs its possible you just need to clean the contacts a way to test is take them out (make sure you do this either one at a time or mark where each one goes spark plugs will go in any of the holes its the cables you need to keep check on) put it against the side of the engine and turn the engine over if a spark then check the next etc if there is no spark that will probably be your problem but still check them all anyway there easy to clean also.

Apart from that we have books in england called haynes manual for each different car so that you can do things yourself there may be somthing like that available where you live.

But if your getting fuel to the engine and its turning over personaly it sounds like spark plugs to me.

Hope this helps.

It takes fuel, air, compression, and ignition for a motor to run. One of them (or more) is missing. Have someone stand near the fuel tank and listen when you turn the key on. Is the fuel pump running? If not, there's your problem. If so...

Pull a spark plug wire, and (carefully, so you don't get shocked) hold it near a ground as someone turns the key to start. Got spark? If not, there's your problem. If so....

Run a compression check of all cylinders. Got compression, and all of them are pretty close? If not, there's your problem, if so...

You've got all the components needed. The engine should be running.

One last thing, sometimes the fuel pump runs, but it has low output. But then it would starve out at higher speeds, and would still start, so I doubt it's that.

need to verify if you have spark to plugs. one way is removing spark plug from one cyl. label an remove all plug wires and at plugs onlly. plug removed plug (lol) into plug wire and set on engine where you can see spark end and the body of plug is touching metal on motor. then crank motor for brother while he looks for spark. hint, very hard to see in sunlight. if no spark the check dist. cap and rotor for arcing or burn through. on a distributorless motor then check fuses, after that will need skilled diagnostics. was the old filter plugged or hard to blow through. you may have fuel but not enough pressure. if filter was either then suspect electric fuel pump failing, ever hear a whine from the fuel tank before it quit?

i'm particular you've tried each and every of the glaring solutions, so the staggering element to do is to at least one million) seek for the internet, and then in case you do not locate any solutions after lots of searching (because the project might want to be extremely effortless an not properly worth it), 2) take it to the vehicle shop. Use the internet to dig up some airborne dirt and dirt on them earlier you flow! or you may want to get ripped off.

WELL YOUR ON THE RIGHT TRACK NOW THAT YOU HAVE ASTABLISHED THAT THERE IS FUEL THE ONLY THING LEFT IT FIRE AND BY THE REPORT YOU HAVE GIVEN I WOULD SAY THE THE COILS AND MODUAL THAT IS UNDER THE COILS IS BAD, I CAN TELL YOU HOW TO CHECK THE COILS IF YOU HAVE ACCES TO A TIMING LIGHT, HOOK UP THE NEG AND POS LEADS AND THEN TAKE THE SPARK INDICATOR LEAD AND CHECK EACH SPARKPLUG WIRE AND SEE IF THERE IS SPARK ON EACH WIRE IF THERE IS THEN ITS JUST THE MODUAL IF THERE IS BUT INTERMITTEN THEN THE COIL IS STILL BAD. BUT IT WOULD SAY THAT IT IS IN THE COIL OR COIL MODUAL AND YOU CAN GET THE WHOLE THING AT ADVANCE FOR ABOUT 140.00 AND IT ISN'T TO HARD TO PUT ON, YOU JUST HAVE TO WATCH HOW YOU DO THE WIRES, IT IS BEST TO DO THEM ONE AT A TIME.

Try some starting fluid to get it primed.
