just ignore those answers. i frequently get insulted when i post questions here. some people are ignorant and inarticulate, and all they can do is name call or insult.

Because they can and also remain anonymous while doing it!
I think for some people to be rude to others here is in all reality a way of "venting", and getting a sort of release from doing it.
Sometimes you are the indirect object of their rudeness because the person or people they really want to be rude to they can't! So they have to take it out on someone and you just happen to be available, or some question you ask just happen to set them off!

I think some people are just rude and may not be here to sincerely help people. Also, there are so many questions posted that are just rude or sickening so people don't know whether to take some questions seriously or not. Eventually an attitude of cynicism and sarcasm prevail....leading to rude answers.

Some of the people on here are just trying to stir things up, they seem to have no real interest in answering or asking legitimate questions. The best you can do is ignore them and consider the source there are also lots of unsupervised children on here also and they think they are being funny.

Immaturity.... Just wanting to get the "points".... Fearing that a serious or sincere answer would be ridiculed or "wrong". And, unfortunately, sometimes the questions are tacky and invite a rude response.
I am sure there are a multiplicity of reasons for it. You just have to ignore the "smart alec" responses and read only the sincere ones.

I think there should be a way for users to delete answers posted to their questions, just like in blog comments. That should also take away the answerers 2 points. That will set things right.

Some people are just mean. They have too much time on their hands and saying rude things is their way of feeling better about themselves.

how clean. atheism has not something to do with my creativity except the actual undeniable reality that i floor each and every asumption i make in technological awareness which i guess is imaginative. being the dork that i'm i also like illogicall books and trust that there i a really wonderful line between technological awareness fiction and prior to its time

I have also wondered that!
Plus, the quality of the questions, and the spelling.
Perhaps, people just are typing what they are thinking.
