We were married when I was 18 and my wife was 16. We meet in High School. Everyone said it wouldn't last 2 years. And no she wasn't pregnant. Well, our 22'nd anniversery is coming up and we love each other and have a wonderful relationship. Is this typical or our we the exception?

By the way we were married in Las Vegas at 3am. The parental consent letter was typed, notarized, signed and witnessed and was the at the time the best Carson county clerk had seen. We never forget to tell each other that we love each other. We also work together at our buisiness. Mutual repect and admiration coupled with communication is the key to our relationship. We've changed but, we've changed together.

I was 21 and my wife was 19 when we met. Married 2years later and we will be married 8 years this december. From my experience marriage takes a lot of work from both sides to keep it romantic, fresh and exciting.
Sometimes it's easier to think about looking for greener grass on the other side. All the while we become comfortable with our own green grass. We might think someone else will make us happy, but in reality you have happiness right in your own house. You just have to remind yourself of what brought you to your first love and continue to build on that foundation.
In real estate it's all about location, location location. In marriage it's all about communication, communication, communication!!!

This is great for you and actually my Parents have been married since they were teenagers but I know that I was not ready to be married when I was 16, or 18, or 21. I had other aspirations to fulfil before I wanted to commit myself to the energy which marriage requires. I travelled and developed a career, and waited until I found my intellectual, emotional, and spiritual match. Any marriage I had made prior to that would have foundered as I grew up. I think it's right to wait for the right person and irrelevant if that is at 16 or 60.

Young marriages ARE at a higher-than-average risk statistically, but they're not doomed. Knew my DH for years (went to same schools); married when he was just under 21 and I was just under 19. (Just celebrated 29 years.)
Have known 20-year-olds who could be trusted with a great deal, and 40-year-olds that shouldn't be allowed out without a sitter. A lot is going to depend, IMHO, on the mindset going into marriage. It's NOT a way to "play house", have socially-sanctioned intercourse, or show that you're all grown up.

Congratulations. That's good news considering how things are today.
In this day and age marriages come and go as quickly as changing clothes. Yours is definately more of an exception instead of the rule. There aren't that many people these days whom have stayed married for long.

My hubby and I dated for 5 years (never lived together) got married when I was 22, he was 23 - and been married for 8 years this past Aug. 15th. We have also been together for 13 years!
You obviously are very much in love and going strong. I hope my hubby and I have the same success you and your wife do!
You are definetely a role model to other people who are thinking about giving up on their marriage!!!!

Exception. I'm 29, been married over 10 years, not exactly happy either. So, I'd definitely say that you are the exception.

Congratulations on keeping it together for so long. However, in this day and age it would have never worked out. People are to selfish and over indulged by sex, money and greed.
