Enemies you want to keep an extra eye on because they will stab you in the back first chance they can.. Friends are there to help no need to worry bout them...LL

It means that it's more important to know what your enemies are up to than your friends; while you can trust friends, enemies are out to get you so by keeping them close they a) don't know that you know they're an enemy and b) you know what they're up to. An old Arab saying: figures.

I don't know because I don't have enemies, I try to live the good old Christian way, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and it keeps me enemy free............. try it, your life will be stress free. I would think it means that if you have enemies you need to be careful and keep them closer because you are always having to watch your back for their retaliation..................

When U know or have an idea that someone does not like you. Still keep them close because when they are ready to stab U in the back , you see it coming. This is a very smart saying.
