If you wire two 12 volt batteries in series, you will have 24 volts of output to fry your car system with, not a bigger 12 volt battery.If your current 12 volt battery does not have a high enough AMP hour output, you should buy a bigger one that will meet your output needs. If you use too big of a battery, you will have the same problem with your original plan and fry out your electrical system and possibly start a fire to boot.

You will need to connect them in parallel to get the amperage of the two batteries and only 12 volts. If you connect them in series, you will have the same amperage but 24 volts.

positive to positive and negative to negative but both batteries have to be good because when you wire em like that they will only be as strong as the weakest battery.
