The first Stig was Perry McCarthy who did the first 22 episodes. He's 44 and he used to be a Formula 1 driver. The team he drove for went bust but he went into test driving and after dinner speaking. He has also written a couple of books.

He's a damn fine driver, it's probably just a whole bunch of different amazing drivers but they add mystery to the show by giving him a nickname and not revealing his identity!

my dad thinks its Johnny Herbert who used to race in formula 1 but is now part of the midland f1 team, I'm not so sure tho....

no one knows..personally i think he is an ex-top gear t.v presenter Tiff Neddel..or could be rally driver Colin McCray
