Are you sure it's 512MB? It sounds like a 128MB drive. Try reformatting it and see what happens.

There is a slight chance that you've been scammed.
But try this:
Go into My Computer, right click the icon for the player and choose format. Click begin to start the process.
If that didn't work, do this: (This step works for Windows XP, vista and 2000, if you have some other version add a detail about that.)
Go into Control Panel. Switch to classical view. Go to Administrator Tools > Computer Management. Then click disk management (Or possibly Volume Management) Find your mp3 device, note the filesystem type of it, you'll need to know that later. (Probably FAT or FAT32) Right click you drive and choose remove partition. In the lower part of the window, find your drive right click it, and choose create partition. Make sure it is as big as it can be, and of the same type as you noted before.
If it's still 118 MB you have been scammed and should return the player for a refund.

i've got a usb mp3 which is 265mb .. some amount of the space avaible can be configured to store private data. this space can be configured by the software you received with your MP3 or you could refer to your manual. if this is not it i think you might have been scamed or that there is some error in your MP3 .
