Herpes type one.
No, the other herpes is Genital herpes and looks a little different.
Of course you can, that's how it's spread.

You can also develop Type one by having mouth-to-genital contact with someone who has Type Two, and Vice Versa.

I have herpes labial sometime very rarely, Iam lucky if I do not have in a year, by the way it been years now...LOL..
Usually cause by sun,
it's very uncomfortable and sore.
Everytime I have that I go to the doctor, and he prescribe Acyclovir, really help a lot.
If you treat right away it go away faster.
The funny thing is when I say to people I got herpes they're all got scared..LOL..
Note that ''Herpes genital'' is different than ''Herpes labial'', and I do not have ''herpes genital''.
Herpes is a small sore situated on the face or in the mouth that causes pain, burning, or itching before bursting and crusting over.
The favorite locations are on the lips (the labia), chin or cheeks and in the nostrils.
Less frequented sites are the gums or roof of the mouth (the palate).
Labial herpes is also called fever blisters or cold sores. It is caused by herpes simplex virus type 1.
The virus lies latent (dormant) in the body and is reawakened (reactivated) by factors such as stress, sunburn, or fever from a wide range of infectious diseases including colds.
Recurrences are less common after age 35.
Sunscreen (SPF 15 or more) on the lips prevents recurrences of herpes from sunburn.
The virus is highly contagious when fever blisters are present.
It is spread by kissing.
Children become infected by contact with someone who has a fever blister and then they spread the virus by rubbing their cold sore and touching other children.
A person with fever blisters should be careful not to touch the blisters and spread the virus to new sites, such as the eyes or genitals.
There is no cure for fever blisters. Medications that can relieve some of the pain and discomfort include ointments that numb the blisters, antibiotics that control secondary bacterial infections, and ointments that soften the crests of the sores.
''ACYCLOVIR'', an antiviral drug, prevents the herpes simplex virus from multiplying and, in pill form, has been reported to reduce the symptoms and frequency of recurrence.
Hope this help, GOOD LUCK.

What KF said is absolutely correct (I am plagued with this problem sometimes and have done lots of research on it). It is contagious with contact, also if you touch it a lot you can spread it to other areas of your face (so leave it alone!!)
There is also something else that can cause sores that look like cold sores, it is called Impetigo. Unlike Herpes simplex which is a virus (meaning it stays in your body and can reappear when your immune system is weak), Impetigo is an infection and happens when a small cut (that you can or cannot see) gets bacteria in it and becomes infected. read the link provided for more details.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

Please see the webpages for more details on Herpes labialis (oral Herpes simplex).
Genital herpes:
A common infection caused by the herpes simplex virus type 2 or type 1.
Type 1 is commonly acquired through oral sex, while type 2 is transmitted through sexual intercourse.
Symptoms include small blisters in the genital area which rapidly break down to leave painful ulcers.
Other symptoms include pain or difficulty in passing urine. Some patients may develop headache and fever.
Herpes infection during late pregnancy is potentially dangerous to the baby during labour.
Herpes is a life-long chronic condition which cannot be cured.
However, there are antiviral drugs available which can reduce the severity of symptoms.

Usually (though not always) the cold sores around your mouth are due to oral herpes. Most people who are past childhood are already infected with this virus (if they have ever had a cold sore before) and can only get cold sores when their own virus decides to rear its ugly head. They can not get a cold sore from someone else (if the other person's sore is due to an oral herpes virus).

You CAN get genital herpes on the mouth if you are having oral sex with someone who is infected. This is less common, but certainly possible.

herpes simplex, the same virus as genital herpes
no, as the only herpes virus that produces cold sores and genital sores is the herpes simplex virus
Yes, very much so, you can also give it to people, same with oral sex

EDIT: to clarify, herpes simplex type 1 or 2 is just a classification as to where the lesions are found, it is the sime exact virus, it is the same exact infection, you will have it for the rest of your life
