It has been my experience (and my two daughters) all three of us only weighted about 98 lb. when we got pregnant and we did a wonderful job. It is not the fat on our body that allows our hips to spread out when it is time for the baby to come. During the last month of pregnancy, there is a hormone released that allows the sacrum (the bones that attach the left and right hip) to looses up, so the baby can fit through better. It is truly amazing how the body works. All three of us were able to have natural birth's and we are all three back at our 98-100 lb weight range again.
Wish you the best, good luck!!

My dear young woman,
My ex-wife was 4'11" and weighed 80 lbs. We had two children, a boy and a girl. Both were delivered in hospital without difficulty. In fact, with our first, a boy, on the day of delivery, we pulled up in the hospital parking lot just about 8:00 P. M. My wife had her first hard contraction just as we were getting out of the car. The doctor examined her a few minutes later and told me to settle in for a long wait. Our new son was born at 11:50, just 3 hrs. 50 min. later.
The morning of that day, my wife had had her final physical exam with the doctor. She was full-term, nine months and a trifle more. She weighed. . . wait for it. . .
95 lbs.!!!
Baby and all. 95 lbs. Mother and child were quite well.
And no her name wasn't April.
Fear not. Consult your obstetrician and/or gynecologist and all shall be well.
Truly it is not unusual for pregnant women to worry if everything will turn out all right, especially with a first pregnancy.
Consider this. For hundreds of thousands of years, women of all shapes and sizes have been giving birth quite successfully even without anesthetics, antiseptic conditions or university-educated medical professionals.
Else where did all these people come from?
Take a look around you on any busy day downtown and be assured.
I hope this helps.
I wish you an easy labor and a beautiful son or daughter.
God bless you.

Calm down! My mother gave birth to five healthy babies, (no c-section, no epidural) and she has always been a very small woman. I think that the most she has ever weighed in her life was 118, and when she was pregnant she gained no more than twenty pound with all of us. Plus we were all smaller babies. All of my little brothers weighed 7lbs 12oz and they were the biggest.
A lot depends on your family history, as well as the baby's father.
Don't worry, I'm sure that you will do fine, and it is ok to be small and pregnant.

I am sure you will be fine. After all, you are only 12 weeks....you will be gaining more weight before you give birth. I think heavier women have a harder time than skinnier women. You will be fine. One word of advice though: epidural!! Good luck!

I heared that women who have smaller hips do have more difficulty delivering, so ive heared. You have to talk to your GYNE just to make sure. Anyways, with the technology and the drugs we have today, it'll make giving birth a less painful experience for mothers.
Congratulations! You'll be a great Mom!

I'm not sure, but I don't think it has anything to do with your mother and genes. My great grandma gave birth 17 times! no joke! My grandma gave birth 4 times, and my other grandma gave birth 8 times. My mom? ....only two survived out of four. And me? Well I have yet to find out.

I am small and had no problems. I had the epidural too, so I felt zero pain. It was really easy. I am 5'9" and at nine months I weighed 140lbs. You will be fine, just relax and enjoy the time you have to get everything reay for the baby.

I think it also has to do with your height. I am 18 weeks pregnant and very short so i will probably be getting a c-section
