The NFC (Natl Football League) encompasses both conferences. The National Football Conf, and the American Football Conference.

The NFL was the first and 99% the most important football league. The AFL started in the 50's or 60's and were a seperate league. But stole many good college players and offered more passing and played a more wide open game. The NFL swallowed up the AFL in 1970, I believe. So they changed both leagues to conferences of their own under the NFL ownership and name. There was a huge rivalry between the two leagues. I was 7 when the Jets were the first AFL team to win the Super Bowl, when they had Joe Namath. I still after all these years will usually root for the NFC team, because thats how I grew up. Silly as it sounds, many people still feel that way.

The NFC is the National Football Conference of the NFL, the National Football League. The other conference is the American Football Conference, merged in to the NFL in about 1970 or so from the old American Football League. Some NFL teams can trace their history to like the 1920s, maybe even earlier. The AFL was started in about 1959 with original teams in New York, LA, Houston, etc

"In baseball, the nationwide League has pitchers that bat, even as the yank League has distinct hitters, so there's a diverse rule replace/large difference". "compared to baseball, the guidelines are the same for both conferences" In Baseball, the guidelines are the same for the nationwide League and the yank League, plus each and each of the Minor Leagues. The leagues have the alternative of creating use of a selected Hitter, or no longer. the yank League, and the Minor Leagues, decide on to apply a DH, even as the nationwide League does no longer. 6.10 Any League might want to pick to apply the distinct Hitter Rule.
