That's like saying there's a big bowl/plate of your absolute favorite foods right in front of you. But why eat if you're going to eliminate them anyway. Why bathe is you're going to get dirty again. Life is precious and sweet. Holding your baby for the first time is indescribable. Marriage, grandchildren, graduating college, your first job, good friends, vacations, or just jumping in puddles, running thru sprinklers, doing something to make you feel pretty, listening to the ocean, looking at the mountains, the autumn leaves. There is so much more to life that the things I've mentioned. You were put here for a reason. Only God knows this. But while you are here, enjoy the ride.

There is no point to any individual life, except as part of a developing universe. Each living thing contributes to the current stage of development and the future evolution of the universe. We as individuals may never know how we influenced the over-all evolution, but we can be sure we had some small effect. Some have what appear to be larger effects, but in the longer scheme of things, everone's contribution is small.

Seriously, people assign thier own meanings to their lives. There actually is none.
Like any other life form on this planet, we are put here to procreate so that the species will survive. That's all. Survival of different species describes how the planet will survive.
If you look at Earth as a complete living organism, our job, just like any other life form, is to keep the Earth alive.
Takes away from individual importance, doesn't it?

Ok please don't listen to these people...
There is no reason why we were "put on this Earth". Yes we will all die. As for finding a meaning to life... you have to find one for yourself. Do you want kids? Do you want money? Do you want love? These are just goals created by society to "guide" your life, but do you honestly believe they will make you truly happy?
If you want the meaning of life, you must ask yourself and not others.

That question is as old as time and there are a myriad of answers to it. Usually the answers tend to fall into some sort of religious format.
That is really a tough question to answer, because truthfully, no one KNOWS the answer until we die. Then you can't pass the information back.

know one knows why we are here, but the fact remains that we are. we don't know what's coming next so we make the best of the time we have here. if i die tomorrow i'll die happy because i know that i had the love a husband and left the world with my beautiful daughter. i would change what i have for anything.

Because white men took over. If Native American Indians were to have control, we would still be living off the lands and having a beautiful world, wouldn't be any slackers everybody would have their place. I would also like to think there woulnd't be switiching partners every night and marriage would still be considered sacred.

in response to the first person's answer, what's the point of experiencing life then?
if anyone could answer your question, s/he will be all over the news and books etc.
the point of dying, i think, is to start all over again, since we reincarnate. there are unfinished businesses and unfulfilled desires that needs to be done, and you are given a chance to finish it.
