My computer had a virus in April of this year. I have Windows XP Professional. Luckily, that was tooken care of, but now everytime I turn on the computer a blue screen pops up. The blue screen said Chkdsk. It said that the computer was checking a disk for any problems. I have a chance to press any key on the keyboard to stop it. A ot of things work fine on my computer, but when I try to Defragment something it says: "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: C:
Please run Chkdsk /f." I do not have by the way, a Microsoft XP CD. Please, Please, Please help me with this. I am looking for the best answer ever! I do not want to see that blue screen ever again! (PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO GO TO A COMPUTER WORKSHOP.)

You do not have to have a Windows XP CD to run Chkdsk /f. Just go to Start > Run > Type "chkdsk /f".
Let the computer finish checking for errors, and see what happens.

Please do not go to Geek Squad or any computer store. They will rip you off.
Try this:
Start>Run>In the box type in "cmd" to bring up a command box>then type "chkdsk", hit ENTER it should start running checkdisk
I'm not sure why you need the window xp cd to run checkdisk. If the above option don't you may want to try to find another software that run operates like checkdisk.

Usually, Check Disk will reset itself. To see, try going to the Check Disk mode.
Start--My Computer-- right click Drive(C)--click Properties--in Properties, click Tools--in the Check Now,see if the two boxes are checked, if they are, uncheck them.
I haven't had this problem,but it seems that this would be an easy way to find out if this will help.

Try a system restore,
or you can go to start>run>msconfig>start up>(and shut down that program.)

Goto www.ewido.net and run the free version and see if it will get it
