Abstinence = 100% effective
Birth Control Pills = 99%
Condoms = 86% effective in most cases, 99% effective if used correctly-- the most reliable brand is durex
With both the pill and condoms you MUST read up and learn the best ways to use them -- for example, you can't use petrolium based lubes with condoms, anti-biotics make the pill less effective, and so on.

I am not trying to be a smart a** but not having sex is the best way to avoid pregnancy. There is no protection that is 100%.

as much as you may hate it, avoid sexual contact!
Use condoms or foams, especially condoms because that is the only thing that is going to protect from std.s. You can still do a lot of heavy petting, kissing etc, but remember std's can still come from oral sex.
