The correct answer was (and still is) Moses Walker.

Larry Doby played for the White Sox after Jackie Robinson, becoming the first Black player in the American League.
Satchel Paige played in the ***** Leagues for most of his career. He was relatively old when he was finally allowed into the majors.

Moses Fletwood and his brother Welday Walker

In 1883, Moses Fleetwood, a catcher, signed with the Toledo Blue Stockings of the Northwestern League. A year later the Blue Stockings join the American Association, which was considered a major league. Fleetwood played in 42 games in 1884 and hit .263; while his brother, Welday Walker played in six games. Until 1947, the Walkers were the only black players ever to play in the major leagues.

Moses Fleetwood Walker in the 19th century. If I remember from my Sports History class African Americans were run out of baseball in the fallout from Jim Crow laws.

It was not Fleetwood walker it was William white an ex slave to the position of an injured player for one game he went 1for4 and scoring a run playing for the grays they won 5to 2
