I love the British sense of humour, Moon, doubtless in part because I'm half-British, myself. The Brits have a much more intelligent and subtle sense of humour, as evidenced by the Monty Python troupe. Their brand of satire is light-years beyond the American notion of comedy. 'Fawlty Towers' was far superior to any equivalent American sitcom if not just by virtue of its clever writing. Even the old style of British humour, such as the classic Ealing comedies of the 1950s (invariably starring Alec Guinness), was brilliantly understated. It isn't rocket science, and I needn't go into a lengthy dissertation on the subject, I just love the witty and wonderful British sense of humour! :)

My fiancee' and i watch the British channel all the time.We watch "Cash In the Attic" and "Bargain Hunt everyday.I have learned some much about antiques and the One appraiser on that show is named Paul and he is soooo adorable.
We watch "Graham Norton" and also"just for Laughs".I love Graham Norton and he gets all the top notched British Celebrities along with the American
ones. You never know what he is going to do,he is such a pervert, ina funny way.
I look forward too Wimbledon every June. I love that tournament.Especially when there is Royalty in the Royal box. I love watching shows about your Queen, prince Andrew and Fergie, and her daughters Eugenie and Beatrice, also,Diana"s sons Prince William, and Prince Harry.
I love Hugh Laurie and watching him in all his movies and when he plays Dr.House, he is so amazing. His American accent is perfect, but I would rather hear him speak English,he sounds very sexy. Also ,I Love Hugh Grant and his brother. They are both outstanding actors.
The British sense of humor is different, and I am beginning to understand your slang. Some words that we use in America, are the same words you'll use in England and they mean different things.Lucky my Fiancee' understands and will explain it to me.I enjoy British humor most definitely.
Another thumbs up question, keep them rolling.Take Care.

It's my favorite. Dry, witty, self deprecating and occasionally involves cross dressing lumberjacks. From Monty Python to Eddie Izzard and shows like The Office and Ab Fab (I could make a list of my favorities, but you get the point), British humor is a wonderful thing.

I am a brit, our comedies are well funny! If any americans slag us off it's b/c the don't get the british sense of humour b/c were sarky and can laugh at ourselves. Every brit knows that they just don't get us. I always say if you can't laugh at yourself you don't have the right to laugh at anyone else. We have quite an immature sense of humour actually as we think getting absolutely slaughtered and making a complete tit out of yourself or someone else is funny as ****, also we think it's funny if you hurt yourself! Were a bit doolally.

the stereotypical 'british' humor (excuse me, humour) that i like is a bit on the dry, witty side. 'inside' jokes that you may not get (but are still funny nonetheless) add to the cerebral feel of brit humour. dry, droll, call it what you like, if you're in the proper mood for it, british jollies are quite enjoyable!

i do not remember who said it, but one of my favorite quotes is that an englishman always laughs twice, (how splendid!) once when he hears the joke and later when he understands it. clever!

Frequently far too sophisticated for Americans since it draws on a wider understanding and knowledge of the world.

It tends to be a bit dry, and you need to pay attention or you will miss the joke, which, of course, pisses off the simple people!
