i have answered a few questions in the gay category and my question is this. why is it that christians won't accept the fact that someone is gay? i mean isn't christianity about bringing people to know and love God? u don't have to like the fact that someone is gay but acceptance is part of being a good Christian. loving everyone just as God loves u. although u are a Christian doesn't mean u are not a sinner. that is why u are a Christian because God died on the cross to save your soul so why are u putting people down just because u don't agree with who they are? maybe u should try to understand them instead. God loves everyone not just the perfect people.

I am a christian and gay people dont bother me. Sure it is not God's plan and that is part of the reason why he destroyed Sodom and Gamorrah. But it would be like me saying I have no sins to answer for if I judged a gay person for being gay. They will have to answer for their own actions just like I will. I am no better than anyone else and nor are they better than me. A sin is a sin no matter how big or small

hi. i am a christian, actually orthodox christian - orthodoxy is more strict on this issue - and i have some gay friends... i actually enjoy being among them even though i am straight, because between us there is no sexual tension that you would normally feel while talking to other straight men.. so this being said...

God died on the cross so that us, the sinners, be rescued. The ten commandments refer to loving god and respecting others, but they were not enough so Jesus had to come and suffer among us and die like us, thus being able to save us. OK!

Now, the church basically says: we do not reject the gay people. As we do not reject the ones that murder or lie or cheat or are greedy for one reason or another. But people, when coming to us need to want to change in order to be accepted. I don;t think that the church "hates" or "despises" the gay community... they just do not accept their behavior as being a proper one. that is the explanation.

i would see their answer like this - i love you and respect you and try to help you, even if you are a sinner or a saint. I don't reject a murderer or a liar, but i cannot accept your behavior even if I care for you.

some priests though are very very strict about this, and this, i think, is a prejudice, as they sometimes, refuse to talk to people of different sexual orientation.

On this issue, we could divide Christians into at least three groups. Maybe more. But I'll tell you about the three. This is an opinion based on what I've learned by being a Christian gay man.

1. The gay-bashing, "you will burn in hell *****" Christian. Not Christian at all in my book. They belong to some right-wing cult that preaches hatred and condemnation, and this is not what Christ's life on Earth was about at all. These people belong to a sect which has kidnapped Christ in order to justify a church which strictly controls it's members.

2. The accepting Christian that believes that while homosexuality is probably a sin, God loves all his children. They may say things like "hate the sin, love the sinner.: I think this person somewhat aligns with the asker of this question...more or less, I'm generalizing here!

3. The Christian who acknowledges that Jesus Christ taught love, was always inclusive of the outcast, and never spoke of homosexuality, EVER. These people not only are tolerant, they affirm the Christianity of all people, including LBGT persons, and welcome them into the full life and service of God's Christian Church.

Which person sounds more like Jesus to you?

Fanatical Christians have a hard time accepting anything that is different or looked down upon in the bible.. Yes God created Man and woman to be together...However its not that cut and dry.. I'm sure gays would change the fact that they are gay if they could (at least some) just because of all the things they have to go through for being gay..I am a Christian and love my Lord..I try to not be judgmental, because he is the judge, not I... I try to love all people (although its hard to love murders, rapist, and child molesters). We are all sinners and no one is perfect. If we could spend our time trying to understand those that our different (religions, nationalities, sexual orientation, EcT..) there would be less hate in the world..

We all have our faults, and as long as someone is honest with himself about having a problem, there isn't anything wrong with that. No one should ever judge him, lest we ourselves be judged.

There is a difference, however, between "not judging" and "not seeing"... and not having enough love or courage to tell the truth.

Acceptance of someone "as they are" is not what being a Christian is all about. It is not a big support group for people's faults and it has more to do with corrective, tough love. "If you can't take the heat, then you should get out of the kitchen," in other words.

If you have a problem that you don't even believe is a problem (and have actually converted it into a wonderful lifestyle), then the problem is not with "those Chistians" - it is with you. You then blame others as a way of remaining in denial and enabling yourselves to go on being wrong and not changing. Quite often people manifest the very hate (toward those who tell them the truth) that they accuse others of having.

I have answered respectfully, but I predict that many will display their hate and intolerance right now.

Because Christians like everyone else like to use specific scripture to pick and point out the things they believe make them superior to everyone else as far as sin goes. No matter to them that the the bible says "None are righteous, no not one." They find the things that they agree with and horn in on them to separate themselves by tribal, animalistic instinct. They hoard themselves into churches and categories and completely miss the point of the grace and forgiveness of Christ by spending all their time arguing and making distinctions to ameliorate themselves..

Everyone likes to believe they are right, and best and as I like to say "Corner the market on the way to God."

It is, for some reason, one of the sins that were set apart and mentioned in specifics and I don't know the reason for it but times have changed and the need to populate the planet has become obsolete. All I know is that to God, Sin is sin... Punishment is punishment.

I would imagine that God had his reasons that ran along these lines. If everyone were Gay, we would not procreate and therefore completely miss one of the biggest reasons for being born in the first place but honestly, in the case of certain people, I think that homosexuality and sterility is actually doing the gene pool a huge favor!

It's like how were not supposed to eat pork and rules like that... Pig's are not migratory animals and the Jews at the time that law was imposed were nomadic, certain laws were called sins for more practical reasons than religious. Rabbits and animals the chew their cud, get rabies where others don't as easily. I think it was all for a reason, all practical to the times and some still even hold up.

I don't buy all that "I was born this way crap!" Even if you were... EVERYTHING, every decision a man makes to act or not is always a choice. Alchoholics drink by choice even if they desire to drink by design... But in the big scheme of things. I thin there are much worse things than homosexuality... God had bigger problems in this day and age. Maybe back then, there was just not as much petty sh*it to harp over?

those people you are addressing are not going to give you a straight answer (pardon the pun). God created us all, and he makes no mistakes. If He didn't create homosexuals, there wouldn't be any. those who claim to be Christian and do nothing but point fingers and pass judgment, use the Bible to justify their bigotry. You CAN be Christian and homosexual. you CAN be a heterosexual Christian, and love and accept gays. how do I know that? because I know lots gays and straights who are Christian.
and yes, we CAN procreate. I have many gay/lesbian friends who have.
quit picking and choosing Bible verse out of context and condemning us. you do nothing but waste your time coming to these forums and preaching your intolerance. does it make you feel superior for a couple minutes? here's some news...it makes you look inferior acting that way. judge not, lest ye be judged.

I believe that Jesus Christ died for me on the cross. God the Father sent him to do so for the redemption of the world. That includes everybody. To be a Christian you have to repent that you do wrong, that you are a sinner, and you have to be sorry and and ask for forgiveness which is granted if you are truely sorry and wish to change your ways.

This includes homosexuals. As Christians we are not as you say "to put other people down," as we are not the judge of anybody but ourselves, God is.

I guess for most people they do not understand homosexuality and so that which they do not understnad is bad!

This is not ok.

I guess it depends on which side you take if you think that someone is born gay or if they decide to be.

I think it is pure choice and I think it is brought on by purely learned behavior in wanting to define yourself differenty from other people.

I am 100% straight and do not flaunt it. Don't talk about how many women I been with because I can't stand to hear someone ramble off about how many the've been with and you know the whole positisional thing... blah blah blah.

It is the same thing with someone who is gay. I don't want to hear thay they are gay or how many partners they have been with or whatever. It doesn't matter I think it should be private and those who flaunt out what they are doing and march up and down the streets saying that I should say its okay what they are doing, I have no tolerance for those people.

I am like the military, don' ask don't tell. Let God be the judge, and I will stay on the path which I believe has been chosen for me! TOODLES!

The world needs more people like you.

I saw an answer here that said it is impossible to be a Gay Christian.

It's because of Christians that Gay's can't be Christians.

Christians say they love everyone and want to spread the good news, but when it comes to gay people they slam the door in their faces, call them dirty names and immediately banish them to hell.

How is that spreading the good news?

They violate the very Law they claim to embrace!

.........I would like to know when "AMY" (above) became the spokeswoman for homosexuality.

You make excellent points in your statement. I think that number of "Christians" feel that only thing gays do or want is sex. Anal sex 24/7 365 days a year. Untrue of course sex is part of the way gays feel and react. There is love between man and man and it not aways sexual. So call "Christians see a gay agenda where homosexuality will be forced upon the public. There extremes of gays good and bad. Same as there extremes of "Christians" good and bad.

First of all, there are no "perfect" people. We are all sinners. That being said, I think many people assume they know God's will and take it upon themselves to judge others. We should love and accept all of God's creations. I think the best way to bring God to others is not to preach, but to act and treat others in the way we want others to treat and act towards us. The golden rule is always a good rule to go by.
