I believe happiness comes from Inside and also dependent on outside influence. I happy to be with my girl friend where the girl friend is outside influence. I happy with a job well done in my area of activity where happiness comes from inside. I can give you many more examples for both the above.

I wouldn't say happiness is 'dependent' on outside influences, but I do think that happiness comes from both inside and outside. I can be in a totally down mood, but one of my kids does something stupid, even, and I laugh or smile or just get knocked out of the negative place I was in (and my kids are pets, by the way)

I believe you have to be happy on the inside first in order to be happy with others and outside influences.

Happiness is a state of mind, hence it comes from within. Though it might possibly be influenced by the outside, ultimately it is as much a decision made by the individual to be happy. The mind is an amazing thing. I've met people with less than nothing who were hungry, in pain, and still happier than those that had their basic needs met, with added luxuries.

I would have to say both but mostly the inside..i say both because you can only take so much of what is thrown at you, some people are just happy people (from the inside) but put them in a situation where their whole life is one big bad luck streak and some just don't make it to the end with all the happiness they used to have!...scenario- your very close to your mother but she dies when u r 6 your left with your father who cant handle the death of the mother and he abandons you the only family you have left is an aunt & uncle you have never met, they agree to take you in ,but soon after the uncle starts melesting or beating you (or both)...you tell your aunt she doesnt believe you ..you grow up like this leave their house at 16 try to take care of your self ..find who you think is a good guy ,marry him, have a beautiful child together..turns out he's married with a whole family you didnt know about so now he's gone..your baby dies a month later of SIDS...& the rest of your life continues like this untill you wake up at age 65 one day a bitter lonley person who tried to keep the inside happines alive but life just wouldn't let you do it!

A little of both. Happiness genuinely comes from inside like the love you have for your family. And it could also come from that significant other. However, your happiness shouldn't depend on rather that significant other loves you are not. You should always appreciate what you have, your family, and your life. However, don't let anyone have that much control over your emotions. You control your own hapiness and destiny.

Happiness comes from inside first. You can have all the great outsides influences in the world but if you aren't happy with yourself first then it's all worthless.

I believe that true happiness comes from inside. A person can be in a miserable situation but that part of them on the inside that stabilizes them (is that the right word?? keeps them in perspective??) will allow them to see that as with all things in life this is temporary and that they will move on to other things...

Hard question. I think happiness mainly comes from the inside. Unfortunate events happen to everyone, but if you feel sturdy and secure, you can cope better than a person who has self-doubt. Unshakeable self-confidence doesn't come easily or naturally to everyone, but we all have different gifts and talents. Sometimes people are unhappy precisely because they perceive unpleasant things very deeply, and this sometimes makes them sympathetic to other people who are in turmoil. Sometimes highly empathetic people make ideal teachers, social workers, clergypeople, etc.

Both.
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% what you do about it. Nothing good could happen to you if nothing bad happened either. It's all relative. Happiness (or lack there of) it the reaction to one's environment. Still, when you limit your perception (mediation) happiness is there to. So it comes from inside, often triggered by external influences.
