any nation uses the UN when convenient, since it is basically worthless. They attacked because they are losers. The United States and Israel were looking for any excuse to agressively attack Lebanon months ago, and so when the event happened with the raid, that started it all. They attacked today because they have the United States support. The US wants to engage Iran in a war, and was hoping to provoke them into action when Israel started attacking weeks ago. The land of "Israel" should be split in half. The northern half would be Palestine and the southern half Israel.
In the middle occupying Jerusalem would be the new U.N. HQ with a corridor that divides these lands from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea. Stationed there should be 200,000 man Rapid Reaction Force capable of delivering a serious smack down to ANYONE in the region that acts out of line.
This solution creates peace in the region and gets the U.N. out of New York .

Isreal said that they were stopping Hezbollah from recieving weapons.
If that is true, than Hezbollah violated the ceasefire AND the U.N. resolution by recieving weapons.
The U.N. resolution CLEARLY says in numerous places that ONLY the Lebanese government can recieve arms.
So, IF Hezbollah was recieving weapons, Israel is actually ENFORCING the U.N. resolution!
It looks like Lebanon and Hezbollah are the one using the U.N. when it is convenient and ignoring them the rest of the time, not israel.

hi,i'm English I research the U. S. calling for a ceasefire formerly the documents come on & they did not element out it.That became almost 4 hours in the past & there nevertheless has not been something stated about it.

Over many years Israel have ignored UN resolution when it suits them. It might help if America were more openly critical when they behaved in this way.
