My assumption is because of the London terror plot and the war between Hezbollah and Israel are taking up all the news time.

right now the bird flu is probably still under control and only affecting birds. im guessing that there have been no major updates with that one. the beef industry has had restrictions and quality control measures placed upon it to lessen the risk of mad cow. what i wonder about is SARS. i remember when the whole world was freaked out about that and no one could come up with a vaccine or anything. what ever happened to that?

I think they try to keep us terrified of only one or two things at a time. If there's ever a lull in the other world scariness, I'm pretty sure we'll go back to diseases. And if bird flu and mad cow disease disappear, we'll probably go back to internet predators.

Oh, and don't forget global warming. The are all real risks to a certain point (expect global warming, it is bogus) but completely blown out of proportion by the media. They have new toys to play with now!!
