Yes, it is very normal. But first, rule out any injuries.
I was 12 and in a swimming race, and was accidentally kicked in my pelvis - it hurt when it happened, but then I forgot all about it. It was either later that evening or the next day, I thought I had started my period. Told my mother, and she thought I had too. As I said, I had forgotten all about the swimming accident. It turned out it wasn't my period; but a result of the kick I had received. I was OK - no lasting damage. If I recall correctly, it was some kind of muscle spasm.

I was 15 when I actually did start having periods and like you, I had one, then months later another one, it was very sporadic at first; but eventually I was having regular monthly periods. My mother had told me at the time that it had been the same for her, late start and all. Hereditary, maybe?

Still, to be on the safe side, why not see a Doctor? If you have started; you will now need annual checkups anyway (pap smear, etc.) So, why not go now, ask whatever questions you want ... and have peace of mind.

Yes, this is normal. I remember back when I got my first period. I bled this odd colored blood and it lasted like 3-4 days. Then I didn't see it again for a good 6 months. I was worried too. I think that the only thing I can think of is that IF you are sexually active, you might want to get a pregnancy test. As long as you are NOT sexually active this is nothing to worry about.

I think, when you start having them, they are irregular, as your body is going through a big change, I know this will seem personal, but as long as you are safe if sexually active ytou should be fine.. the reason why I stated that is because there are so many people that are sexually active before they should be.

You can normally tell if you are about to have another period if you are craving sweets or other sugary foods, seem a bit emotional or your breasts grow slightly and are tender.

**Keep a diary so you can see which day you reguarly start a period.

In the first year irregular periods are normal. Your body needs time to regulate a cycle. Most women are on a 28 day cycle but there are some that are on a 30 day cycle. Your body will eventually regulate.

It's very normal, your body will adjust as time goes on. If your periods don't seem to start getting regular you might want to go visit your doctor or a ob/gyn to find out whats going on, it's also a good idea to start having pap smear tests at your age and to start thinking about birth control.

Good luck

absent periods are often caused by a problem in the brain itself (hypothalamic amenorrhea). when hormone release from your hypothalamus is too low, the pituitary gland is not stimulated, and your ovaries in turn are not stimulated to produce normal estrogen and progesteron.
some are absence of ovulation. the most common cause of amenorrhea. if you arent having periods bcoz u arent ovulating, but you are not trying to become pregnant, probably your doctor may recommend that you take progestin pills once every eight weeks or so to trigger a period. if you dont want to become a pregnant, you do need to continue with contraceptive pill. ovulation can occur anytime.

I have four sisters in my family and I grew up hearing all kinds of stuff. Your going through some minor changes thats all, but in the long run, you will glad when menepoause hits. All my sisters have more children than they can shake a stick right now and Sabrina is pregnant again. She likes it:)

Some times it takes a year for your cycles to become - well - cyclic; you know, regular. You could also be very athletic and this will affect you. Your mother should take you to a doctor anyways just to make sure, and if you are already sexually active get checked and vacinated for HPV.

That is perfectly normal. You are just irregular. You will become regular in around 2 years.

No worries. You just started it. Luckily for me, mine started pretty regular. It may skip a couple of months every now and then for a while. In about a year or so, it will be pretty regular, if not, then i would suggest you talk to your mom, and go to your doctor.
