For a 1300 sq ft home you will need approx 3 1/2 tons of air. figured at 350 sq ft per ton. And usually most air installers like to go to the next 1/2 ton because it is cheaper on the electricity. Cools the house quicker and runs a shorter time. Cost per ton will vary with different areas, but here in Ga. it is going for around $350 - $450 per ton. This would be for the outside unit (compressor) and the inside unit(air handler) There are also self contained units that are reasonable, but can only be used if your house has adequate crawl space. These have both units installed in the outside unit and both the supply and return go from the unit to designated areas inside. They are cheaper than the split systems.

Depends on where you buy it. Your best bet would be to call around at local stores that carry them. Also are you talking central air or window unit? That will also make a difference.

you need more then two tons. If you know someone who can do this work, they will know where to get it and how much to pay. I hope they have an EPA certificate. (unless your in a third world country, where it doesn't matter.)

maybe 1200 including the A coil. Freon sold seperately.

Shouldn't be more than $500; you may need more than one though if you are talking about a window unit.
