what causes it is being a woman, going through menapause or having a hysterectomy, poor diet and a lifetime of poor calcium intake, or just being unlucky

the good news is you only have osteopenia, which can develop into much more serious osteoperosis, but isn't there yet

Take at least 1200mg of calcium with vitamin D a day, eat a very well balanced diet, and talk to your doctor. A medication such as fosamax can help prevent further bone loss.

The key at this point is prevention of degrading your disease and losing more bone mass. Very little can be done to restore what bone you've lost already (some results, but nothing really ground-breaking), so take care of yourself now to prevent problems in a few years.

Osteopaenia is the beginnings of osteoporosis. Take Vit.D and calcium, 1000mg of each once a day, but work up to it, start out with 500mg a day for a month then increase to 1000mg. And stay active, especially get involved in a weight-training programme. I'm not sure you can reverse it, but you can certainly slow it down. Talk to your GP and if need be, get a referral to an endocrinologist.
