I have so many black friends and dont consider myself being racist but today my friend called me brother and i was quite offended, does that make me racist?

In my own experience, that is USUALLY said in a light-hearted way with a good heart. I would express kindness back to the person if that were so. I really can't say a lot beyond this.

Why were you offended? Was it what he said, or the way he said it? The way you worded your question tells me that you have some discomfort about racial issues.
