Fold the towel, as if it's folded over the bar, then hold it to the wall and that's the perfect height for it.

I use the rule of thumb that if it comfortable for me to get the towel, it's the right height.

If you have short people in your family, or have short guests visit, I would suggest you mount it where ever people can reach the thing.

Mount it close to the floor or the ceiling...... you're the one that has to reach it.
