Former part of Yugoslavia, was at war with Serbia for its independance at the beginning of the 90s. Has a large Mediterranean coastline (taking almost all the place of Slovenia and Bosnia). Not in the EU, but I guess they're working on it.
I think it was part of Ottoman Empire at its largest extent. During WW2, a pro-Nazi governement was installed, but there was an important Resistance movement, probably led by the communists.
Towns best known are Zagreb and Dubrovnik (maybe Split ?). Seems to became a developping touristing destination mixing charms of Eastern Europe and the mediterranean climate - lovely place by photos I've seen.
Population is Slav. They are probably majority Christian, with a important Muslim minority (as well as in Bosnia or Serbia).
Former French porn actress Draghixa is born in Croatia, she's now a DJ. That's the only (partly) Croatian people I know :) Maybe the soccer player Boksic was from Croatia too.
That's all I can say, there are probably mistakes :)

I once did a report about Croatia, I printed off like 100 pages, but I'm afraid I don't remember much. I remember that the original settlers of Croatia are actually from the middle east. I can't remember her name, but one Croatian lady won the gold medal at the winter olympics when they were held in Salt Lake City.

I am embarrassed to say that I have no notion at all.
I think of somewhere like Hungary, rolling green countryside, and lots of farmers in fields. Beautiful old buildings, and winding cobblestone streets in towns, all blown to bits by war.
Lots of hungry and displaced people and not much going on to help them.
Hopefully, since you are a young person, online, and very well-versed in English, my ideas are all mistaken.
Now, you have me interested, I am going to google to find out the truth.
