I was going to say you can take the train since Am-trak goes right out of Chicago but do they allow dogs? And it would take forever so how much time do you have?

Best bets would be a train, or renting a car. No animals are allowed on buses, besides, I wouldn't recommend a bus to anyone for a trip that long.

I'm not sure if Amtrak allows any animals other than service animals on trains. Same for bus like Greyhound (ironic huh?)
You may have to either suck it up and fly or drive you and your pooch to sunny AZ. Have a nice trip and good luck

There is always the train. It can be relaxing but takes a lot more time. The dome car lets you see all the country side.

Best of all it's not that expensive.
