regrettably, baseball merely never generated plenty interest in Montreal. Baseball and different activities will continually play a minor function at the back of hockey and wintry climate activities in ths city. the only time the team had a solid hazard to win the identify (1994) the league close down because of the strike. Baseball never recovered from this and attendance went down hill. do no longer think of even a clean initiate with a clean team could hearth up adequate interest interior the sport returned to justify Montreal getting a team. unhappy yet possibly real!

No and it is a little sad. The fans seemed very happy during the very exciting and competitive 1981 League Championship Series that they lost to the Dodgers in dramatic fashion. Had they gotten to the World Series things might have been different. The Expos were dealt an even crueler blow when the season and World Series were cancelled due to the players and owners failing to come to an agreement in '94. When play was halted the Expo's had the best record in the league but unfortunately there was to be no post season play. Had the season been played out and the Expos fared well in the post season, once again who knows how history may have been different.

Doubt it. Once the PQ gained power under Levesque in Quebec, that drove the English Cdn co.'s out and was the beginning of the end. There is not the critical mass corporate power there anymore and that's the bottom line. Shame as I became an MLB fan because of the 'Spos and their fans were really great. They just got screwed by MLB. They drew really well esp. in the '80s so anyone who slags their fans knows nothing...1994 was it--the nail in the coffin thanx to the idiots who run MLB.

If you note the revival of CFL football in Montreal it shows that level of sports can work but the CFL is a fra cry from MLB as far as status and bucks.

I'm from Montreal and I don't think we will ever get an other team. Baseball wasn't working here....well, they sucked, doesn't help to get an audience either.

After the lack of support the Expos received, I seriously doubt it.

I don't think so. They were talking retraction for the one they had so I don't think anyone will have enough faith in the city to support another team.

NAH... Canadiens only like Hockey, they don't even show support for the Blue Jays.
