Many conservatives have argued that we need to suspend certain freedoms as well as criticism of the president since we are at war. So how are we to know when this war ends and we can start living in a free democracy again?

If you will read history, you will learn that this country was NEVER meant to be a democracy, but a republic.

As for being free, forget about it. Once a small bit of power is accrued a politician never WILLINGLY gives it up. The only way to stop the inevitable slide into totalitarinism is another American Revolution and that will never happen as the people of American enjoy their comforts of life too much.
