if its a wet cough(really loud and alot of mucus)you should drink something spicy 2 burn out the cold. If it's a dry cough(quiet and annoying) u should just drink warm things. That should. Hope U feel well soon!!

If you drink milk try stopping. Milk causes most people to be phelmy. You could try sleeping in an easy chair sitting up should help the cough.

If it's been that long you may need to see your Dr. You could have developed an infection.

Other wise a good antihistamine/ decongestant all day and a cough suppressant at night. During the day a cough expectorant.

Good luck hope you feel better.

After a couple of weeks you might consider going to a clinic.
most colds are gone in a couple of weeks.

Sadly, there is no medicine that actually works on coughs.
Regardless of what T.V. says, I've never found anything that has ever worked even a little bit for a cough.

What kind of cough is it? If it a dry, hacking cough, try Umeboshi Plum. Get it at the health food store. Put a little on your finger, and then in your mouth. It is supposed to work great.
If it is a phlegmy, mucousy cough, try cutting down on starchy foods and dairy products. Drink hot tea with lots of lemon, or my personal favorite, homemade strong lemonade.
Either way, go see a Doctor! A persistent cough could be a sign of a very serious condition like an infection or even cancer. (Happened to my husband at the age of 30.)
Good luck and God Bless!

Take cough medicine that contains a cough supressant.
The next time you feel a cold coming on, start taking ibuprophen and antihistimans right away - that will prevent you from getting all the usual cough symptoms like runny nose, itchy throat, coughing, etc. You'll still feel crappy, but the whole reasn we get all the usual cough symptoms is that our immune system overreacts to the cold virus.

If it is a dry non-productive cough, get something with Dextromethorphan in it. If the cough is productive, get something with Guanifesen in it.
In the meantime drink lots of fluids!

If you are sure it is due to an upper respiratory infection, aspirin, fluids, resting with yourself clothed in clothes thick and hot enough to make you sweat without exercise, Vicks, etc.

If you are not sure why you are coughing, it may be allergic. My husband's congestion was due to gluten intolerance (wheat, oats, rye and barley). Eliminating them from the diet really helped.

Any cough that lasts more than a couple of days, or does not respond to OTC (over the counter) medications, needs to be followed up with you doctor. A simple chest film can reveal much and it may take something simple like some antibiotics or a stronger cough medicine to get you well.

Dont wait, go see your doctor and find out why.

For an herbal remedy Horehound tea works really well.
Be forewarned though Horehound is VERY bitter. Don't sip the tea but drink it down as quickly as possible
