How come it seems most Medical Doctors are not American? Do not misunderstand me I am glad that the foriegn people can better themselves,but how come more Americans are not going to Med School?

The biggest problem is the cost of medical school. My son was going to go but after looking at the cost, chose to become a four year RN. In many foreign countries, the state supplements the cost and all a foreign doctor has to do, is show his accredidation and pass the FLEX or some other type of test and then they can practise in the USA.

because it is expensive to study medicine here (US)... and importing us is one good way to hire the best doctors and nurses to play the field, in our country or in any other country other than US, studying medicine is far cheaper, thats why a lot of people dont hesitate getting into med school...
i know several doctors in japan who used to be farmers. the govt sponsored their education and now they are the best anesthesiologist in the field. same as those very good surgeons from the philippines, who are usually from poor families. the best competetive and passionate nurses are also from the philippines africa and korea.
we get the best training because of the wide variety of cases we have encountered in tropical regions. and the opprtunity in the US is undeniably irresistable...

I am in the air force and work in a hospital. All of our docs are American, but I think that's a coincidence.

They are too busy drinking in the bars and chasing tail to go too school! Also grades[gpa's] and cost!
