How can I make my boyfriends mother like me? She told him that she does not like me. I am 25 and have a child from previous marriage. Boyfriend is 23?
He has a great relationship with her, and I do not want to cause a rift between them. This relatonship is very important to me. I saw her once, and we spoke for a minute at the most.

Respect her anyway. Try not to get insecure or defensive with her about it. Just be as respectful as you can...it's his mom, and she probably just wants what's best for him. We all know that sometimes what's best for us is not what our moms wanted, so just try to deal with it. If yall are in it for the long run, she'll learn to love you or get over it.

Don't hate the children, well don't hate anybody But it's the parents fault for not teaching them right. So dislike the parents. I have 3 kids. And if they act badly in public, they get grounded, or if we were at a movie, I would just take them home, if they didn't straighten up and act right. If we're at the mall I have used a bench (or chair in a food court) right then and there to give them a time out. Like if my little boy was asking for something and I said no and then if he thought he'd get away with whining and begging for it, he'd get a time out right then because sometimes waiting 'till we get home to be grounded is not as effective. The consequence needs to be right away. Sorry too long winded. Anyway it's all in the parenting.

This is a tough one. You can't MAKE another person like you. You have to be yourself and she will accept you or not. As a mother, I think what she did was very stupid. Telling her son that she doesn't like you was a mistake. He probably shouldn't have told you that either because now you will be uncomfortable around her. Try not to be. If she sees that you are making her son happy then hopefully she will come around. That's all good mothers want for their children.

Do not take her non communication personally at this point. The best thing you can do is always be respectful and honest. She is concerned for her son's happiness and wellbeing. And if the two of you are happy that is great! Good luck and I hope all goes well for you!

And she already doesnt like you??? WOW... how did that conversation go? Hmmm... She probably doesnt like you because any guy who dates a girl with children is NOT in it for a short term. So she knows right off that he is serious about you... So-- Just be nice, if you go over for dinner, offer to help, tell her about your ambitions in life, about your goals, make her see that you are a good person, and have good morals. All mothers want their sons to be happy, make her see that you make him happy. Good luck

Say nothing but nice things about her to your boyfriend and give him nothing but nice things to say about you when he talks to her. Worship her and time will seal her to you. In case you have forgotten; women are territorial creatures and sharing anything is slow to happen because of this. My wife had a child and my mother was slow to accept her but eventually did.

Love , respect etc are never bought. You should get it naturally. And if / when everything else fails , plead with her. tell her that you are also a mother !! ( sorry!! )

You know what I am currently in the predicament. If she hates your guts like mine does,it's not happen going to happen that she will ever like you.
what you need to do is show her that you lt love her son,and you would not do him wrong.

you can't do aniting.. dun make the situation awkward by purposely wanting to please her.
give her some time and i'll believe she'll accept you.
meanwhile just be yourself and don't let this affect the relationship between you and your boyfriend.

talk to your boyfriend about this since he must know her the best... you can try and meet up with her again or invite her over to your house and get to know her and let her get to know you
