This is from Adam and Eve. They lived in Paradise without pain. But once they ate from the tree of knowledge, they learned of pain, suffering and shame. With out all the world's trouble, life is simpler.

If you want a more contemporary example, take a class in physics and try watching Marvel Movies. Basic knowledge of momentum and support structures totally kills the movie. Then take heat transfer and watch "the day after tomorrow".

Simple minded people are ignorant to those of complex. Simple being easy is bliss versus complicating.

Ignorance IS bliss.

When you are truly ignorant you don't know it. In fact you may very well fell you are truly knowledgeable.

Isn't it funny, the "great, driver, pilot, typist, you fill the blank" is the last to know it, just as the "pud knocker" is the last to know it. This is the blissful ignorance referred to in the saying.

Ignorance is bliss in some circumstances, and knowing when to use it is a gift indeed.

It is said because there are things that if we knew would hurt us, such as your wife cheating on you etc. It is a matter of when you use the saying. Knowledge and understanding are great when you are trying to run your VCR, but I don't think it is the same when you are talking a cheating spouse.

I'm sure it's ignoring things like religion because if God exists then we have to follow right? well if you don't try to hard you can still do all the thing's you want. That's my 2 cents

People who are ignorant are probably not smart enough to realize they're unhappy.
